The Intermediate Vocational Training Program in Pharmacy and Parapharmacy offered by Escola Joviat is designed to provide students with comprehensive and practical training in the fields of pharmacy and parapharmacy.

This course trains students in the dispensing and sale of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products, as well as in the promotion of health and well-being among customers.

Students learn about stock management, product quality control, pharmaceutical legislation, and communication techniques to provide effective and professional advice.

In addition, the program includes a significant practical component, where students carry out internships in pharmacies and parapharmacies , allowing them to apply the knowledge acquired in real situations and develop key skills for their future professional career.

With the support of an expert teaching team and an innovative learning environment, students in the intermediate degree in Pharmacy and Parapharmacy at the Joviat School are prepared to face the challenges of the pharmaceutical sector and contribute to the health and well-being of the community.

Curriculum

Introduction to the operation and management of the pharmacy office, including administrative and customer management aspects.

Specific training in the proper dispensing of medications, including interpreting prescriptions and communicating with clients.

Knowledge about the sale of non-pharmaceutical products, such as food supplements, personal hygiene products, among others.

Visual merchandising, marketing, and communication skills for customer interaction.

Basic chemistry to apply in the pharmacy laboratory.

Learning techniques for preparing magistral formulas and officinal preparations according to the needs of patients.

Teaching how to promote healthy lifestyle habits among clients and the community.

Training in basic first aid techniques to respond to health emergencies.

Fundamental knowledge of anatomy, physiology and basic pathologies to better understand patient needs.

Preparation in aspects related to the world of work, including workers’ rights and duties.

Promoting entrepreneurship and personal initiative in the pharmaceutical sector.

Development of specific English language skills related to the field of pharmacy.

Strengthen students’ communication skills, both oral and written, in the Catalan language.

Manage digital tools applied to the professional sector.

Integrate sustainability criteria into the production processes of the professional sector.

Professional internships in companies in the sector to apply and complement the learning acquired.

Integration of the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the course in a final project.

Pharmacy and parapharmacy technician.

The requirements include being in possession of a Secondary Education Graduate degree, having a technician degree, passing the entrance exam to middle-level cycles, among other options such as having passed the university entrance exam for those over 25 years of age.

515 hours of Work Placement Training (FCT) in companies within the sector, with options at both national and international levels through the Erasmus+ program.

Internships in community pharmacies and hospital pharmacy services.

Projects with pharmacies

Collaborative project with city pharmacies for the implementation of health campaigns and the design of their displays. Simulations of dispensing medications and parapharmaceutical products, as well as the resolution of professional practice cases.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT + AED

Obtaining the Basic Life Support and Defibrillation Certificate from the Catalan Resuscitation Council and European Resuscitation Council.

Internships and workshops

Internships in visual merchandising of parapharmacy products and participation in workshops such as:
– Preparation of SPD (Personalized Dosage Service)
– Preparation of magistral formulas in the laboratory (creams, capsules, powders, syrups, etc.)
– Health education workshops
– Sales booth for officinal preparations (magistral formulas)

– Stock management using the pharmacy-specific software Nixfarma
– Training in oral hygiene and cosmetics provided by pharmaceutical laboratories
– Visit to the pharmaceutical distribution warehouse Cencora
– Visit to the hospital pharmacy service of Althaia
– Visit to the Infarma Pharmaceutical Fair

Equipment and resources

The Intermediate Vocational Training Program in Health Emergencies at Escola Joviat is equipped with top-tier facilities and educational resources to ensure a thorough and hands-on learning experience. As part of the practical training, the school provides access to a real ambulance and a fully equipped ambulance simulator, both fitted with all the necessary medical equipment to carry out practical workshops.
