The Higher Vocational Training Cycle in Oral Hygiene at Joviat offers comprehensive training to promote oral health, combining preventive and care practices.

This course, recognized for its innovation and the high enhancement of the family-school relationship, incorporates new methodologies such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and clinical simulations , in addition to practical sessions in small groups, individualized tutoring, and the possibility of taking it blended learning.

With 2,000 hours of training and 515 hours of internships in companies in the sector, students prepare to work in primary care , specialized care , and private settings thanks to our extensive job pool, obtaining the qualification of Superior Technician in Oral Hygiene.

Curriculum

The Higher Vocational Training Cycle in Oral Hygiene at Joviat incorporates an innovative and practical pedagogical approach aimed at training qualified professionals in the promotion and maintenance of oral health. The curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive training, combining theoretical knowledge with extensive practical experience.

Manage the work area in a dental office.

Identify the anatomical, physiological and pathological characteristics of the stomatognathic apparatus for assessment and recording.

Explore the oral health status of patients/users of health services for epidemiological purposes and intervene through direct actions.

Evaluate the oral health of individuals and the community, through epidemiological surveillance activities.

Promote the oral health of individuals and the community, through health education and health promotion activities.

Perform own, delegated or auxiliary dental techniques within the oral health team.

Clinical Case Studies

Through simulation, students could work on fictional clinical cases to learn how to diagnose and treat different oral conditions, as well as develop preventive treatment plans.

Oral Health Promotion Projects

Development and implementation of educational campaigns aimed at different groups in the community, with the aim of promoting good oral hygiene habits.

Research on Novel Techniques and Materials

Exploration and evaluation of the latest innovations in materials and techniques used in oral hygiene, including the study of their impact on disease prevention.

Oral hygiene education workshops

These workshops are aimed at schools from different educational stages (Early Childhood, Primary, Compulsory Secondary Education, Vocational Training cycles, Batxillerat), residential centers, and other special groups, with the goal of developing skills in health promotion and education.

Tartrectomies

Through simulation, students could work on fictional clinical cases to learn how to diagnose and treat different oral conditions, as well as develop preventive treatment plans.

Dental clinic management

Students perform the tasks of a Senior Technician in oral hygiene, such as using GESDEN , clinical history , material orders and stock control , instrument aseptic process and instrument preparation.

Basic life support + AED

Obtaining the Basic Life Support and Defibrillation Certificate from the Catalan Resuscitation Council and European Resuscitation Council.

Students who complete this course receive the title of Superior Technician in Oral Hygiene. This accreditation qualifies them to practice professionally in the field of oral hygiene, carrying out preventive and care tasks.

To access the program, candidates must hold the Baccalaureate diploma, or be certified as a specialist technician (FP2), higher technician (Higher Vocational Training Cycle), or technician (Intermediate Vocational Training Cycle), or have completed the second year of Baccalaureate in any of its experimental modalities. Completion of the University Orientation Course (COU) or the specific access course for Higher Vocational Training Cycles (CAS) is also considered acceptable. Additionally, admission is possible by passing the access test for Higher Vocational Training Cycles, possessing any university degree or its equivalent, or having passed the university entrance exam for candidates over 25 years old.

The course includes 449 hours of Training in Work Centers (FCT) in companies in the sector, providing students with valuable practical experience and the possibility of applying the knowledge acquired in a real professional environment.

Internships at: AVINENT and FUB.

Passing this course allows students to continue their training with other training cycles or access undergraduate university studies, especially in areas related to health and dentistry.

Professional opportunities include working as a senior technician in oral hygiene in primary and community care, specialized care in hospital services in odontostomatology and maxillofacial surgery, and in the private sector performing preventive, technical-assistance and administrative tasks.
