1st year of high school
Regarding the modalities of the first year of upper secondary education, we observe the distribution of subjects across various specializations:
- Humanistic
- Social Sciences
- Economical
- Technological
- Health Sciences
It includes common subjects such as Catalan, Spanish, English, Philosophy, and Physical Education. There are specific subjects for each specialization under “Specialization Subjects,” and options for “Annual Elective Subjects” and “Quarterly Elective Subjects,” from which students must choose one subject each term.
2nd year of high school
In the case of the modalities for the second year of upper secondary education, we find that, just like in the first year, there are five pathways or specializations to follow:
- Humanities
- Social Sciences
- Economical
- Technological
- Health Sciences
Common subjects continue to include the same languages, history, and philosophy, while the specialization and elective subjects vary depending on the pathway, with courses such as geography, technology, and natural sciences. Additionally, students must choose one elective subject for each pathway, which may include art history, physics, chemistry, and peace, justice, and responsibility.
