Course content

Swimming: Basic skills and abilities in the aquatic environment (40 hours) and specific swimming techniques in the aquatic environment (80 hours)

Upon successful completion of the Aquatic Lifeguard Course, participants will receive a Certificate of Professionalism. This accreditation is officially recognized and validates the skills and abilities acquired in aquatic lifeguarding, both in rescue techniques and first aid.

To access the course, interested parties must be unemployed and must comply with the specific requirements established by the call:

  • Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) certificate or equivalent or higher qualification (alternatively, a key competencies test can be taken at the center).
  • DARDO document (registration in the SOC).
  • Valid DNI or NIE.

The course includes an 80-hour internship module that takes place in municipal swimming pools or collaborating aquatic facilities. This part of the training allows students to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in real situations, developing their practical skills under the supervision of experienced professionals.

The Certificate of Professionalism obtained can serve as a starting point for access to other related studies, such as advanced first aid courses, specific first aid training, or even studies related to sports, health and well-being.

The course opens up several career opportunities in the water lifesaving sector and related areas. Graduates can work as lifeguards in municipal swimming pools, water parks, hotels and resorts, sports centers, and swimming clubs, among others.
